# General Settings

General Settings let you customize how Chronoid looks, starts up, and displays information in your menu bar.

## Appearance

Choose your preferred color scheme:

| Option | Behavior |
|--------|----------|
| **System** | Follows your macOS appearance setting |
| **Light** | Always uses light mode |
| **Dark** | Always uses dark mode |

## Dock Icon

Toggle whether Chronoid shows an icon in the Dock:

- **Show** — Chronoid appears in the Dock like a regular app
- **Hide** — Chronoid runs only in the menu bar, keeping your Dock clean

## Status Bar Icons

Customize the icons Chronoid displays in your menu bar for different states. Each state can use a different SF Symbol:

| State | Default | Description |
|-------|---------|-------------|
| **Default** | Clock icon | Normal tracking state |
| **Paused** | Pause icon | Tracking is paused |
| **Web Blocker** | Shield icon | Web Blocker is active |
| **Pomodoro** | Timer icon | Pomodoro session in progress |

Click any icon to open the SF Symbol picker and choose a new icon.

## Status Bar Time Display

Configure what time information appears next to the menu bar icon:

### Display Period

- **Current Session** — Time spent in the current active session
- **Today** — Total tracked time today
- **This Week** — Total tracked time this week

### Display Scope

- **All Projects** — Combined time across all projects
- **Current Project** — Time for the currently active project only

### Display Format

- **Hours and Minutes** (e.g., 2h 35m)
- **Decimal Hours** (e.g., 2.58h)

## Startup & Defaults

### Launch at Login

Toggle whether Chronoid starts automatically when you log in to your Mac. Recommended for uninterrupted tracking.

### Default Tab

Choose which view opens when you launch Chronoid:

- Tracking
- Activity
- Timeline
- Stats

### First Day of Week

Set your preferred week start day (Sunday or Monday). This affects how weekly stats and date ranges are calculated throughout the app.

## Privacy

### Analytics

Toggle anonymous usage analytics on or off. When enabled, Chronoid sends anonymized usage data to help improve the app. No tracked activity data is ever included.
