By default, no. Chronoid supports local AI models (via Ollama) that run entirely on your Mac. If you choose to use cloud AI providers like OpenAI or Anthropic, only the specific queries you make are sent. Your full time tracking database always stays local.
What AI providers does Chronoid support?
Chronoid supports local AI through Ollama (Llama, Mistral, and other models), as well as cloud providers including OpenAI (GPT-4) and Anthropic (Claude). You can switch between providers anytime and bring your own API keys.
How accurate are the AI responses?
AI responses are based directly on your actual tracked time data, so the underlying numbers are accurate. The AI then summarizes and analyzes this data. For critical billing or reporting, we recommend verifying against the raw data in Chronoid's timeline view.
Do I need to pay extra for AI features?
The AI chat feature is included with Chronoid. If you use local AI (Ollama), there's no additional cost. If you choose cloud providers, you'll use your own API key and pay their standard usage rates (typically a few cents per query).
