AI Chat

Ask natural language questions about your tracked time and get instant insights from your data.

AI Chat

AI Chat lets you ask questions about your tracked data in plain English. Instead of navigating through reports, just ask — "How much time did I spend on the Design project this week?" — and get an immediate answer.

Getting Started

Before using AI Chat, you need to configure an AI provider. See AI Providers for setup instructions.

Once configured, open the AI Chat panel to start asking questions.

What You Can Ask

Activity Queries

  • "What did I work on today?"
  • "Show me my most used apps this week"
  • "How much time did I spend in VS Code yesterday?"

Session Analysis

  • "What was my longest work session this week?"
  • "When did I start and stop working today?"
  • "How many hours did I work last Monday?"

Productivity Analysis

  • "What's my most productive day this week?"
  • "Compare my productive vs. unproductive time this month"
  • "Which project took the most time last week?"

Distraction Analysis

  • "How much time did I spend on social media today?"
  • "What are my top distractions this week?"
  • "Am I spending less time on distractions compared to last week?"

How It Works

When you ask a question, the AI:

  1. Parses your question — Understands what data you're looking for
  2. Queries your local database — Uses tool calls to fetch relevant tracked data
  3. Generates a response — Summarizes the results in plain language

Your data stays on your device. The AI provider receives only the question and aggregated results, not your raw activity data.

Conversation History

AI Chat maintains context within a conversation. You can ask follow-up questions without repeating yourself:

  • "How much time did I spend on Project X this week?"
  • "What about last week?" — The AI remembers you're asking about Project X
  • "Break it down by day" — Continues with the same context

Start a new conversation to reset the context.

Tips

  • Be specific with dates"this week", "yesterday", "last Monday" work better than vague timeframes
  • Use project names — Reference your actual project names for accurate results
  • Ask follow-up questions — Build on previous answers instead of starting over
  • Try comparisons — The AI can compare time periods, projects, and categories
